About The Dentist

Chris qualified from Newcastle University in 2013, where he continued to work until 2016, when he moved to Australia, working in Community Health. He gained his Member of the Royal College of Surgeons Diploma in 2015, certificate in Advanced Cosmetic & Restorative Dentistry in 2020, and MSc in Clinical Orthodontics in 2023. He moved to London at the end of 2017, and has worked in hospitals, NHS & private practice and has been at The Dentist in Balham since January 2021.

He provides general dentistry and has a keen interest in orthodontics as well as aesthetic & cosmetic dentistry. Chris is the Clinical Director for our practices, leads our orthodontic team, and has been providing Invisalign since 2018.

Outside of dentistry he enjoys travel, cinema and trying out London’s extensive collection of restaurants.

Carlos qualified in 2005 from Madrid University and has been practicing general dentistry in London since 2006.

He enjoys all aspects of dentistry and has a keen interest in conservatively restoring teeth in the most natural looking way. He regularly attends a wide variety of courses, which allow him to use all manner of techniques available in modern dentistry. Most recently he has been focusing his attention on implants. He has been placing implants since 2009 and he gained a Diploma in Implant Dentistry from the Royal college of Surgeons of Edinburgh in 2018.

Carlos has many years of experience in general practice and particularly enjoys working with anxious patients. He enjoys finding a solution that is right for the patient and their needs.

Outside of work Carlos enjoys travelling and is a keen sportsman playing squash and running.

Tom completed his Doctor in Philosophy (PhD) at the University of Liverpool Dental School in 2010, where he conducted research into tooth enamel defects and published journal articles on tooth whitening and 3D imaging. Tom worked at Manchester, Leeds and Sheffield UK dental schools during this project. He gained a Bachelor of Dental Surgery from the Peninsula Dental School (at Exeter and Plymouth Universities) in 2014.

Tom enjoys all aspects of dentistry and treats everyone as he would like to be treated himself. He aims to provide clear treatment options and a customised plan to meet the best interests of each individual. He practices minimally invasive, conservative dentistry. Tom has a special interest In Endodontics, and gained his Masters in Endodontic Practice at the acclaimed Eastman Dental Institute. He is currently doing his PG Diploma in Clear Aligner Therapy at The Aspire Dental Academy.

Tom is a member of Faculty of General Dental Practitioners at The Royal College of Surgeons of England and the British Endodontic Society. He is friendly, approachable and loves to meet new people. He enjoys caring for all generations, from grandchildren to great grandparents.

Tom lives in South West London with his young family, loves music and the arts. Tom is a keen triathlete, surfer and likes winter sports and the great outdoors.

Vidhu gained her Bachelor of Dental Surgery in 2001 from Leeds University. She has always combined further academic training along with her clinical work, believing in the importance of keeping up to date with the rapidly changing face of dentistry. She completed a diploma in Restorative Dental Practice at the acclaimed Eastman Dental Hospital in 2009. She has also completed numerous postgraduate training courses, including occlusion, tooth wear and a one-year postgraduate certification in minimally invasive cosmetic dentistry.

She enjoys all aspects of dentistry with a particular passion for conservative aesthetic dental treatments. She has a particular interest in composite veneers and tooth wear rehabilitation. Along with treating her existing patient base her focus is ensuring that all patients at The Dentist receive the highest levels of customer service and quality of care. She ensures that the practice is following gold standard protocols for CQC, health and safety and clinical governance.

She likes to create a warm, friendly, and inviting environment for her patients that reflects both her approach to dentistry and her relationship with her patients.
She lives in Balham with her husband and two young boys. Vidhu enjoys nothing more than spending time with family and friends in her spare time.

Emily graduated from Liverpool University in 2017. She then moved to London and was then offered a training job at The Royal London Hospital within the OMFS specialty, gaining experience in A+E and oral surgery. Emily later passed exams with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow and was awarded membership. Emily has then worked in general practice, nurturing a special interest in Periodontology through post graduate studies with University College London, where she gained her MSc in 2024.

Emily knew she wanted to be a dentist at the age of 12, having had a holiday job at a dental practice to earn pocket money. Outside of clinical work Emily facilitates mentorship and training of newly qualified dentists.

If Emily wasn’t a dentist, she would be a children’s TV presenter!

Jane graduated from the University of Dundee in 2018 and shortly after moved to London to practise dentistry. She has mainly worked in general dental practice, but has also spent two years working in London teaching hospitals mainly in restorative and special care departments, gaining experience in treating a wide range of patients.

Shortly after qualifying she earned her diploma for the membership of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. She is currently completing a diploma in Restorative and aesthetic dentistry, to further enhance her clinical skills. Her approach is friendly with a focus on personalised treatment planning to meet each patients individual needs.

Outside of Dentistry, Jane enjoys running and exploring London’s vast restaurant scene.

Nicole qualified as a dentist from Barts and The London School of Dentistry in 2018. Following graduation, she completed a three-year Master’s degree in Periodontology at University College London (UCL), gaining advanced training in the diagnosis and management of periodontal disease.

After completing her master’s training, Nicole worked within the NHS periodontal department, treating patients with severe gum disease who were referred by their general dental practitioners. Her clinical experience includes comprehensive periodontal assessments, non-surgical periodontal therapy, and advanced surgical periodontal treatments. These procedures included periodontal flap surgeries and regenerative bone grafting procedures around teeth.

Nicole now works exclusively in private practice, providing periodontal care and offering the full range of non-surgical and surgical periodontal treatments for patients with gum disease. She is known for her friendly, approachable manner and has a calm, reassuring style, allowing her to work particularly well with anxious and nervous patients.

Harry graduated from the University of Leeds in 2022 with a distinction.

He enjoys all areas of dentistry and has a keen interest in restorative and cosmetic dentistry. He likes to attend additional courses to stay up to date with the highest standards. He has also completed a year-long certificate in Cosmetic dentistry & Aesthetic restorative dentistry.

Outside of dentistry he enjoys being outdoors with friends, listening to music and seeing new places around London.

Hannah graduated from Newcastle University in 2022 and stayed to work in the North East for 2 years before finally moving to London in 2024.

She loves all aspects of general dentistry but has a particular fondness for aesthetic dentistry. Hannah regularly attends courses to stay up-to-date with the latest treatments and techniques, and is focused on delivering the best standard of care to all of her patients. Hannah has completed courses in facial aesthetics, composite bonding and white fillings, amongst others. She has recently completed a post-graduate diploma in aesthetic and restorative dentistry, to further master more advanced techniques.

Outside of work Hannah loves to cook and regularly host dinner parties for her friends. She has also started running and is hoping to complete a half marathon soon.

Dr Reham Abbas qualified from the University of Bristol in 2020 and is a friendly, dedicated dentist who takes pride in providing high-quality, patient-centred care. She focuses on precision and long-term oral health, ensuring each patient feels listened to and well cared for.

She strives to continue learning and has completed postgraduate training, including a PG Cert in Aesthetic and Restorative Dentistry, along with a range of advanced aesthetic dentistry courses. Dr Reham particularly enjoys aesthetic and restorative dentistry, with an emphasis on minimally invasive techniques to preserve natural tooth structure while achieving beautiful, natural-looking results.

Known for her calm and reassuring manner, Dr Reham is especially appreciated by nervous patients and always strives to make dental visits as comfortable and relaxed as possible.

Outside of dentistry, she enjoys playing football and travelling.

Emmanouil is a qualified Dental Hygienist & Therapist, graduating from the University of Manchester. His calm and friendly approach is particularly helpful with anxious and nervous patients. He has worked across several clinics providing preventative treatments and educating patients on oral health.

Simran qualified as a dentist from the University of Plymouth and has since developed a particular interest in aesthetic and restorative dentistry. She has completed postgraduate
training in Aesthetic and Restorative Dentistry, allowing her to provide patients with modern, minimally invasive treatments focused on achieving natural-looking, long-lasting results.
Simran has a keen interest in clear aligner orthodontics, helping patients improve their smiles through discreet and carefully planned tooth movement. She particularly enjoys combining
restorative and orthodontic techniques to create personalised treatment plans tailored to each patient’s individual needs and goals.

Alongside dentistry, Simran has a strong interest in facial rejuvenation and skin health. She provides a range of treatments including polynucleotides, microneedling with SkinPen, and
regenerative treatments incorporating exosomes, with a focus on improving skin quality, texture and overall appearance while maintaining natural results.

Simran takes a patient-centred approach to care and enjoys helping patients feel comfortable and confident throughout their treatment. Her philosophy is centred around enhancing each
patient’s natural features rather than changing them, whether through restorative dentistry, smile enhancement or facial rejuvenation.

Jas is a dentist with a particular interest in cosmetic and restorative dentistry. He has completed further training in these areas to further develop his skills and provide patients with highquality, personalised care. Jas particularly enjoys treating anxious patients and understands that visiting the dentist can be daunting for some people. He takes pride in creating a calm and reassuring environment where patients feel comfortable, listened to and well cared for. Jas’ aim is always to provide the best possible patient experience, while ensuring that each patient feels involved and confident in their treatment.

Outside of dentistry, Jas enjoys cooking for friends, reading, exploring all that London has to offer, and is an avid Arsenal fan!

Sophia is Dental Therapist with a special interest in children’s dentistry and caring for nervous and anxious patients. She has experience working in both community and private dentistry, caring for patients of all ages and with a wide range of needs.

She particularly enjoys helping children and anxious patients feel comfortable and confident when visiting the dentist, taking time to listen to each patient’s concerns, build trust and tailor treatment to their individual needs. She uses gentle, supportive behaviour management techniques to help patients gradually become more comfortable with dental treatment.

Her experience includes caring for patients with dental anxiety and phobia, learning disabilities, complex medical conditions, mental health needs, and behavioural management difficulties. She provides holistic preventive and restorative dental care, considering each patient’s wider health and wellbeing.

Sophia is passionate about prevention and enjoys working with children, adults and their families to develop good oral health habits that can last a lifetime. Her aim is to create a calm, friendly and non-judgemental environment where every patient feels listened to, understood and well cared for.
